Youths as the back bone of every society, have been advised to be resilient against challenges, in their quest for economic emancipation and growth.
This was the message during the graduation ceremony and empowerment of thirty five Anambra youths in skills acquisition programme, as the world marks Entrepreneurs Day.
The graduating youths were trained in different skills, including photography, cosmetology, confectionaries, three-D flooring and host of others, by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy and were given start up tools and materials.
The Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Professor Theresa Obiekezie, said that though the day is celebrated on the twenty first of August, the state decided to shift the celebration and noted that the theme of the day which is “Celebrating innovation and Empowering Entrepreneurship” is apt and captures the resilient spirit of Anambra youths, which the state government seeks to harness.
In his remark, the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Youth, Creative Economy and Sports, Dr Carter Dike-Umeh, said the legislature has been doing all within its powers to complement the efforts of the state government in tackling challenges bedeviling the youth populace, commending the state government for being youth friendly and urging youths to believe in themselves.
Some beneficiaries of the empowerment programme including Divine Orakwe and Mercy Nnayelugo pointed out that the empowerment programme has given them a good start, assuring that hey will make efforts to diligently grow and become better and thanked the state government for such opportunity.
The graduation ceremony also featured a lecture, where the youths were advised against falling easily to the rough edges of entrepreneurship but rather to be creative persevere and remain resolute to succeed.
