It was a moment of joy and excitement for staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Onitsha station when they bid farewell to their members who recently retired from service.

 

The Conference Room of the station was filled to capacity with staff of the establishment who deemed it right to say “Thank You” to the retirees for their contributions to the growth of the establishment and the memories they share together, as well as to tap from their blessings of retiring in sound health.

The retirees include former Head of Programmes Department, ABS, Onitsha, Mrs. Uche Nwiba, Chief Presenter (English), Mrs. Esther Obah, Chief Presenter (Igbo), Mrs. Eugenia Okoye, and an Engineering staff Mr. “Candy-Boy” Udeze-Okosi.

 

Speaking at the event, the Head of Station, ABS Onitsha, Mrs. Ifeoma Udechukwu, extolled the retirees for serving the organisation gallantly, and prayed God to bless them in their new endeavours.

She called on the staff establishment who are still in service to be proactive in their duties, lay a good foundation, utilize their salaries properly, and cultivate the habit of saving; as they will retire someday.

 

On their parts, Heads of Commercial Services Programmes and Engineering Departments, ABS Onitsha, Mr. Valentine Oguejiofor, Mr. Ossy Nwashili and Ignatus Ezekwesili who lauded the retirees for their thirty-five years’ service to the station, and described them as rare gems, and asked that they always offer advice and make their wealth of experience available whenever they are called on.

In their vote of thanks, Messrs Nwiba and Udeze-Okosi thanked their former colleagues for organizing the event aimed at celebrating their efforts, and asked them keep the ball rolling by upholding high standards in the practice.
