The people of Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area have passed a vote of confidence in Governor Willie Obiano and the traditional ruler of the Community Igwe Godwin Ezeilo.


The vote of confidence was in view of the impressive development in the Community as a result of relative peace and unity occasioned by the effective security network of the Obiano administration.


Major stakeholders in the town made this known during a press conference held at the palace of the traditional ruler of the Community.


Blessing Uchendu reports that a motion for the vote of confidence was moved by the Chairman of Ubaha village Nanka, Chief Henry Onyekwere and seconded by Reverend Canon Ifeanyi Ezeike from Enugwu village.


It was supported by all the village Chairmen, and representatives of the twenty-three wards in the Community as well as different groups.
The Community which described as false and malicious the claim by those they described as few disgruntled elements in the community who go about causing confusion alleging that there is no peace in Nanka community.
The community maintained that due to the sterling leadership qualities of Igwe Ezeilo he was duely elected and issued a certificate of recognition by the government and coronated by the community stressing that the traditional stool in Nanka is rotational and not hereditary.


Nanka community commended Governor Willie Obiano for his Community Choose Your Project initiative which has brought rapid development in the hinterlands saying that through the initiative Nanka has benefitted in the first and second phases of the initiative waiting for the third one.
They charged the people to learn to be loyal and supportive to those in authority instead of engaging in negative tendencies.


Earlier in an address presented by the community through the Secretary of Nanka Patriotic Union, Sir Pius Umejiofor, the Community maintained that there exists a relative peace which has allowed even development in the Community.


A former Commissioner for Health in Anambra State, Dr Joe Akabuike, who stated that Nanka Community has remained peaceful for many years which has prompted stakeholders in the town to come together to condemn the attempt by few individuals to bring disunity in the area.


On his part, the President-General of the town, Chief Paul Chinedu, re-assured Governor Willie Obiano and Igwe Ezeilo of their unalloyed support to ensure rapid development in the area.


Making his remark, the traditional ruler of Nanka, Igwe Ezeilo, said that the present administration in Anambra State has demonstrated peace and harmony in all aspects of governance which they keyed into by maintaining oneness and brotherliness in their Community, calling on the people of Nanka to continue to embrace peace.


Women of the Community, in one voice, chanted solidarity songs for the traditional ruler of the Community and Governor Obiano.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Obiano on Security Mr Oscar Christopher was present during the event.
