Anambra State government has assured Ndi Awka North council area of
the durability of the Obibia Bridge along Okpuno -Isuanaocha road.
The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor gave the
assurance when he inspected the condition of the bridge, which started to develop pot holes since the rainy season.

Works correspondent, Ngozi Obileri reports that Commissioner Ifejiofor
was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Emeka
Ohuoha and other Directors in the Ministry.

Speaking after inspecting the level of dilapidation on the road,
Engineer Ifejiofor, who said he sent some Engineers to check the
status of the road, announced that they affirmed that the bridge
is not under any threat.

He also confirmed that the bridge is still very
strong though it has some pot holes caused by flood from Okpuno due to
blockage of the outlets with refuse.

While regretting the attitude of some people, who turned the bridge
and its surrounding into refuse dump, the Commissioner noted that government has concluded plans to re-asphalt the road and warned that if the act of dumping refuse around the bridge does not stop, the asphalt will fail again.

He reassured Ndi Anambra that Governor Willie Obiano is determined to
provide better life for them.
