Remains of late Akpahi Janet Nwalie Nwabueze have been laid to rest at her father’s compound Ochuche Umuodu in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State according to Christian rites.

 

Late Akpahi Janet Nwalie Nwabueze who died at the riped age of one hundred and four years was the oldest daughter in both Ochuche and Ogbakuba Communities in Ogbaru, hence her remains were buried in her father’s compound according to their Custom and Tradition.

Untill her death, the deceased was a devout Christian, a community leader, who contributed meaningfully to the progress of her community Osomalla and Ochuche, little wonder her burial was a coming together of communities.

 

In a homely during a burial mass at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church Osomalla, the parish priest Reverend Father Alloysius Uzodike described death as an inevitable end, a price all mortal will pay at a time unknown to them and as such people should be prepared for their death at all times by living a good life and strive to be in good terms with their fellow human being.

Fr. Uzodike described the late Akpahi Janet Nwalie Nwabueze as a good woman, a philanthropist, a woman that loved God and demonstrated it in her fellow human, saying she impacted in people hence she was nicknamed “Nwanyi na ebinye ego”.

 

Speaking in an interview after the interment at her father’s compound, the first son of the diseased Mr. Charles Nwabueze, described his mother as a good and industrious woman who worked hard to train all her children, saying that he will forever miss her motherly advice.

 

Also speaking the first daughter Mrs. Veronica Okwuosa, described her mother as a woman of peace who derived joy in gathering people together in love and a giver till death.

On her part, Mrs. Anthonia Anyamele of the ABS described her aunt as a God-fearing woman who showed her love for God through her relationship with people, and prayed God to accept her soul.

 

Others who spoke including Mrs. Nkiruka Okolo and Mr. Arinzechukwu Agaba, described their aunt as a woman of people, a cheerful giver, a humble and God-fearing woman.

 

On their parts, one of the grandson’s in-laws of the deceased Mr. Azuka Okwuosa and the granddaughter in-law. Mrs. Uche Okwuosa of the ABS, described their grandmother as a strong and great woman who loved her children so much that at her age, she knew all of them by name.

 

Interment and condolences formed the highlight of the funeral ceremony.
