A member of papal knight of Saint Gregory the Great, Dr Dan Okekenta has described peace as a prerequisite for socio economic development of any society.

 

Speaking during the closing ceremony of a four-day Global Diplomacy summit of the international society of diplomats which took place at the Ontario investment and Trade center Toronto Canada, Dr Okekenta who hails from Enugwu Agidi in Njikoka local government area of Anambra State charged various Communities across the world to embrace peace for enhanced development of their various areas.

 

Speaking on the theme, ‘Harnessing the gains of Global Diplomacy and peaceful Coexistence; The role of international organizations’, Dr Okekenta who was recognized as an Ambassador by the ISD advocated restructuring of the United Nations to enable it achieve the expectations of the global citizens to promptly avert, curtail and address the wars and conflicts between and among the Nations.

 

He cautioned against the operations of the United Nations as a mere humanitarian agency assigned to providing aid, food, medicine, and shelter saying that effective and prompt actions of the international body can save millions of innocent citizens from dying on a daily basis.

 

The Enugwu Agidi born diplomat who is a graduate of International Studies and Diplomacy has been a senior advocate of peace corps of Nigeria and Ambassador of peace, Universal Peace Federation for over twenty years.

 

Dr Okekenta has been involved in global Diplomatic missions for resolving issues that could lead to conflicts and wars.
