A Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Environment,
Miss Jessica Nweke, has distributed over five hundred customized
disposal bins to traders at Nkwo Nnewi market, Nnewi, in support of
the efforts of the Ministry of Environment in the fight against poor
sanitary condition in the state.

In addition to further helping to combat diseases, the traders were taught how to bag and dispose wastes properly.

Presenting the bins, Miss Nweke, who said that the effort is in line
with the Dobe Anambra Ocha initiative of the Ministry of Environment,
expressed the hope that traders in the market would work with the
Ministry by making use of the bins in their respective places of
business.

She noted that the bins were for refuse and not for home use, which
is why the bins are accompanied by nylon bags.

Miss Bibian Nwankwo and Miss Blessing Nnamekwe, who are also Senior
Special Assistants to the Governor, applauded the initiative, calling
on Miss Nweke to sustain the tempo.

Some beneficiaries, including Mrs. Chikaodili Nnabuko, chairman of
Agbedo United at Nkwo Nnewi Market, Mr. Joseph Enuma and chairman of
Motor Spare Parts Agbedo United market, Nkwo Nnewi, Mr. Dennis
Ikegwuonu received the bins and appreciated the kind gesture.

Meanwhile, ABS observed that traders in the market
adhered to COVID-19 protocols, as soap and water buckets were placed
at vantage locations, while traders and buyers alike had their face
masks on.

Members of the market Task forc6e were sighted at the gates and various
parts of the market enforcing compliance to the COVID-19 protocols.
