In what appears as response to dissenting voice of a handful individuals, the people of Ihite in Orumba South Local Government Area, have reaffirmed their support to Chief Timothy Ifurunwa as the new traditional ruler of the community.

Gathered in their hundreds at Orie market square; more than they were on election day, the people, in absence of the leadership of Ihite Development Union, queued behind Chief Ifurunwa for the second time to show that he is the people’s choice.

The Councilor representing Ihite community in Orumba South Local Government Area, Mr. Chimobi Ucheagu, who conducted the exercise, said it is necessary to show that the few people alleging foul play in the election that produced Chief Ifurunwa are mischievous in their claim.

An elder in the community, Chief Samuel Okafor, a woman leader, Mrs Fidelia Chigbo, and Commander of Ihite Vigilante Group, Mr Tochukwu Obiekezie, said the community has remained peaceful and in joyous mood after the election of Chief Ifurunwa, and is happy to have him as the new traditional ruler.

Other community members, including the Chairman of all village chairmen, Chief Lazarus Eze, Woman Leader of the community, Mrs Ndidiamaka Ugboaja, and Youth Leader, Mr Arinze Odoemena, called on the public to disregard alleged brewing crisis in Ihite over the election that produced Chief Ifurunwa, calling on the government to accord recognition to the people’s choice.
