A Lagos-based business executive, Chief Jonathan Nzekwe, has called on the federal government to find a lasting solution to the current nosediving of the nation’s currency.

 

Speaking in an interview with the Business correspondent of the Anambra Broadcasting service ABS Abuchi Nwozor on the present economic challenges facing the Nigerian-Nation, Chief Nzekwe maintained that with sincere economic reforms, the current economic challenges facing the country will soon be over.

 

He expressed disgust over what he described as over dependent on Nigerian Business men and manufacturers on the dollar for their transactions, instead of the Naira.

 

Chief Nzekwe who is a member of the knighthood order of Saint Christopher in the church of Nigeria Anglican communion, urged members of the National Assembly to enact a bill for a law that will compel all Nigerians including expatriates coming to Nigeria to do business to only transact with the local currency as part of moves to strengthen and restore the lost glory of Naira.

 

The business executive who hails from Umuonaga village Awka, Anambra State, called on federal and various State governments to seek ways of supporting and encouraging the private sector for optimum production of Goods and services both for domestic consumption and for export to earn foreign exchange to stabilize the economy.

 

Chief Nzekwe called on the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, to introduce more reforms in the Nation’s banking sector which according to him will make many Nigerians to have more confidence in both commercial and Micro Finance Banks across the country.

 

He regretted the hardship Nigerians are passing through and appealed to the federal government to enunciate more measures that will alleviate the sufferings of the people.
