Members of Ihite traditional stool have called on Anambra state government to as a matter of urgency wade in and bring lasting solution to the igweship tussle causing breakdown of the constitution of the community.

This followed alleged neglect of government directive for Ndi Ihite to put their house in order and allow peace to reign before conducting an election for the next traditional ruler of the community.

Lamenting the development, the chairman of Ihite traditional stool, Chief Daniel Ifenwe said that it is the duty of the traditional ruler’s council to direct proceedings whenever a new traditional ruler is to be installed but expressed surprise that they were not consulted this time around.

Chief Ofenwe said that the selection they did is not acceptable and would not be recognized by the community until when the case is determined in court.

On his part, the traditional prime minister of the Ihite community Sir Dominic Ahamkonye, noted that the matter has been reported to court, and that the powers that be in the community did not wait for the decision of the court before selecting whom they want.

In their separate speeches, other members of the traditional ruler’s council Chief Geoffrey Okereke Deacon Ephraim Anudu and chief Dennis Ohajekwe expressed worry that those causing problems in their community are those who are supposed to be championing the growth and development of the community but instead are going against the practice as he alleged that they gave the throne of the community to whoever they like, stressed that it is not acceptable to them.

They called on the government to come to their aid by calling those involved in order, and return peace in the community for the good of all.
