Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s investment in media and publicity in terms of ensuring adequate sensitization and informing the Anambra populace has not been in vain with the recent honour given to the Managing Director Anambra Broadcasting Service, Sir Chido Obidiegwu with a Special Service Award.

 

The honour was given to the ABS boss by Eastern Nigeria Merit Award as the winner of best performing media station, 2024.

The Eastern Nigeria Merit Award was the initiative of individuals from the old Eastern region including Rivers and Delta states.

 

The award was the fifth in its series.

 

Held in Awka, the event attracted government functionaries, captains of industry and market leaders among others.

Among those honoured alongside the MD of ABS were the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area Mr Gerald Ozo, an Awka indigenous businesses mogul, Ozo Emeka Nwosu, UNIZIK Business School among others.

 

Speaking after receiving the award, Sir Chido appreciated the organizers for recognizing the efforts of the ABS in line with the mandate of Governor Soludo.

He noted that it was made possible by the push from the governor whom he said has been providing resources with which to run and maintain the station according to his vision of green, livable and prosperous Anambra state.

 

On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman for Anaocha council area, Mr Ozo, honoured with the best chairman award, thanked Governor Soludo for giving him the opportunity to touch the people at the grassroots which he said was all it takes to make life better for people.

Chief Emeka Nwosu who appreciated the organizers for recognizing his efforts said that the award has spurred him to do more for humanity in terms of human capital development.
