A new Governing Council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University has been constituted and inaugurated

Governor Willie Obiano performed the swearing-in ceremony at the Executive Chambers, Government House, Awka.

Government House Correspondent Ejike Abana reports that the new council, which will serve a four-year term, has Professor Anthony Ikefuna as the chairman, while Dr. Eric Okoye, Senator Victor Umeh, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, Barrister Pat Igwebuike and Igwe Chris Oranu are members.

Governor Obiano highlighted their terms of reference to include managing and superintending in matters concerning the university, promoting the interests, purposes and objectives of the institution, having the custody and control of all the property, among others.

The governor, who called on them to assist in tackling the social vices among youths, stated that they were very specially selected and asked them to bring their experience to bear, to distinguish the university .

In his speech , Professor Ikefuna thanked the governor for his interest in education and assured that they will work to promote the values, visions, goals and ambitions of the university through committed oversight duties.

On their parts, Senator Umeh and Dr. Ifeanyi Ojukwu pledged that they will help to engage the youths positively.

In attendance was the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Gregg Nwakoby, among others.
