The Anambra State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Mr. Evaristus Obiyo, says that the command has address a total of two hundred and fifty cases from September, 2021 till date.

Mr. Obiyo, who disclosed this in Awka while briefing the press on his achievements since assumption of office as the head of the command, stated that issues addressed within the period include malicious damage, threat to life, vandalization of government critical infrastructure, illegal dealing in petroleum products, obtaining by false pretense, among others.

Correspondent Blessing Uchendu reports that Mr. Obiyo noted that while one hundred of those cases were resolved through alternative dispute resolution platforms of the corps, one hundred and ten cases are still under investigation, while others are being prosecuted in court.

The Anambra State NSCDC chief further stated that the command has made commendable moves on crisis management, counter terrorism, disaster management, anti-vandalism, human trafficking and other key security areas, adding that it has also devised strategic security response approaches to tackle emerging and sophisticated crimes and improve its investigative mechanisms.

He also went further to provide the work direction of the Command for 2022, including significant improvement in intelligence and visibility operations, improving personnel efficiency, increased synergy among stakeholders and robust expedited prosecution of cases.

While commending the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr Abubakar Audi for providing adequate support which has helped to strengthen the operational efficiency of the command, Mr. Obiyo lauded Governor Willie Obiano for harmonizing all the security units in Anambra State to work with common objective.
