The Founder and Executive Director, United for New Nigeria Initiative, Lady Juliet Anaeme, says using  a woman as running mate in election will enhance the polity of Anambra state and Nigeria in general.

 

Lady Juliet who spoke on Women Participation in Politics, Anambra South for Governor and Voter’s Card registration, during the 2021 Women Convergence at Eziora Central School, Ozubulu, educated women on the importance of voters registration, saying that it is the only medium through which their voice will be heard.

 

She called on government to spend less in building prisons and concentrate more in creating jobs for the youths and women to reduce insecurity in the country, maintaining that women can only give their votes to political parties that zoned governorship position to Anambra, calling on all political parties to respect zoning in Anambra for equity and fairness.

 

On her part, the south East Coordinator, STAGE for Women Development, Lady Eucharia Adukwulu, urged political parties to consider using women as Deputy Governor while the Anambra state coordinator, Nigeria League of Women Voters, Dr Ego Uzoezie, urged political parties to respect zoning in Anambra to avoid political crisis.

 

During the sensitization, the twenty groups and over three thousand women in attendance unanimously resolved to give their total support to any candidate picked from the South and a woman as the Deputy Governor irrespective of party affiliation insisting that power must shift to the South.

 

Also in attendance were South East Coordinator STAGE for Women Development, Hajia Halilu, National Secretary, Market Women Association of Nigeria, Mrs Kwansa Menkiti, State Women Leader, National Forum For Southeast Presidency, Lady Ebere Umeh, Coordinator Anambra Demand Soludo, Bony Agbala, President General, Ozubulu Development Union, Mr Steve Ahanonu, Comrade Chinedu Orizu among others.
