Governor Willie Obiano has asked education and market stakeholders in the state to ensure strict compliance of students and traders in the state to COVID-19 safety protocols.

The Governor gave the instruction in a meeting with education and market stakeholders at Anambra State Universal Basic Education complex Awka and Government House Awka respectively.

During the meetings, the education and market stakeholders were enlightened on the second wave of COVID-19 and need to continue to take necessary precautions against the virus in their various schools and markets especially now that people in the diaspora are returning for Christmas celebration.

Governor Obiano represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke who restated the commitment of his government towards ensuring all-round safety of the citizenry, said the meeting was necessary as many in the state has forgotten that Coronavirus still exists, asking the education and market heads to launch sensitization campaign in their various schools and markets and as well take necessary actions to ensure compliance to the COVID-19 safety laws.


He asked Ndi Anambra to obey the COVID-19 safety laws as it is for their own benefit.
In their various remarks, the state Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, and her Trade counterpart, Mr. Uchenna Okafor advised their subjects to assist the state government in protecting Ndi Anambra from the killer disease by sensitizing and enforcing the law in their schools and markets.


On his part, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala called on people of the state to maintain social distance, wear protective facemasks in public places, wash hands regularly, and take other precautions against COVID-19 in order to be safe and alive, as he made it clear that COVID-19 still exists and kills.
