History has been made at Flora Azikiwe Model Comprehensive Secondary School Neni, Anocha Local Government Area when perimeter fence built by Umuokpu Neni in diaspora was commissioned.

 

The commissioning, which had the presence of illustrious sons and daughters of Neni, also attracted the state Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Secretary, Post Primary School Service Commission, PPSSC, Mrs Benedict Anagor, among other dignitaries.

The perimeter fencing, which was completed within three months, was attracted by the Neni Development Initiative Group.

 

Speaking at the event, the Chairman on the occasion, Chief Simeon Eyisi, commended Umuokpu Neni in diaspora for listening to the “akulu uno” call of Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration, saying that Neni people are encouraged by the gesture, and advised the students to face their studies seriously for them to excel in life.

 

The state Commissioner for Education, Professor Chuma-Udeh, who was overwhelmed by the the quality job done and timeframe in which the project was completed, described it as a thing of joy that the children are safe and are learning in a conducive environment

The Education Commissioner, who noted that the state government is taking charge of all community schools in state to make them smart schools, called on other Umuadas in various communities in the state to emulate the kind gesture.

 

Principal of the school, Lady Maureen Maduabuchi, who gave a brief history of when the school was founded with sixty students in 1965 as all boys school; with late Chief Emmanuel Nwagwu as the pioneer Principal, stated that the school has been going through series of challenges, and expressed gratitude to God and same to Umuokpu Neni in diaspora, and pray God to bless them.

 

The President of Umuokpu Neni in diaspora, Dr Mrs Henrietta Okoro, and the Vice, Lolo Virgy Ezeife, who thanked the Education Commissioner for being part of the event, commended all that contributed in making their dream a reality, especially the Coordinator, Neni Development Initiative Group, Engineer Paul Enidom, andfurther advised the students to make the sky their limit by studying hard.

In their separate speeches, the President General Neni town Union, Sir Chris Ikenudu, and the Coordinator, Neni Development Initiative Group, Engineer Enidom, commended the women for their initiative, describing the feat as giving back to the society, which they noted is in line with the Private Public Partnership Initiative of Governor Soludo administration.

 

Highpoints of the event were commissioning of the project and inspection of the perimeter fence by the Education Commissioner, Professor Chuma-Udeh; in company of other dignitaries.
