It was a display of the rich cultural heritage of Ndigbo as the member representing Aguata Two Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Tony Muobuike was initiated into the prestigious Nze na Ozo Society of Umuona with the title name “Nze Ezeani Dike Anagbalu Izu nke mbu na umuona”.

 

Honourable Muobuike was initiated into the society by the Head of Nze na Ozo Society of Umuona, Chief Francis Umeh in his country home at Akaba village, Umuona in Aguata Local Government Area.

The ceremony commenced with ushering of Honourable Muobuike into the arena by Ndi Nze na Ozo of the community with traditional music.

 

While initiating the lawmaker into the society, Chief Umeh charged him to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of Ndi Nze na Ozo Umuona, which among other things is to be truthful always and avoid acts capable of portraying him and the society in bad light.

In his response, the lawmaker promised to keep the laws of the society by adhering strictly to their norms and tenets.

 

Speaking to journalists after his decoration, Honourable Muobuike explained that he joined the Ozo society of Umuona to render more selfless service to his community and to keep the legacies of his late father alive who was a member of the society.

The legislator who described Ndi Nze na Ozo as a cultural society known for truthfulness, charity, honesty among others assured that he will use his position as an Ozo title holder to better the life of the people around him and always stand on the path of truth which Ndi Ozo over the years are known for.

 

In his remarks, an Ozo title holder in the community, Chief Prince Ezeofor disclosed that they accepted Honourable Muobuike into the society because he is a man of honour and has been very helpful to the community and the church.

 

In their separate speeches, the member representing Orumba South Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Emma Nwafor and the Accountant General of Anambra State, Dr Chukwudi Okoli who congratulated Honourable Muobuike on the title given to him, said that he deserved the honour accorded him because he is a man of good character and has been very outstanding in Anambra State House of Assembly.

The immediate past Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mr. Emeka Ezenwanne described Honourable Muobuike as a vibrant lawmaker who lives the life of a true Ozo title holder and urged him to use his position to help the masses and do more for his community.

 

The occasion was graced by government officials, members of Anambra State House of Assembly, including the Speaker, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, traditional rulers of the various communities in Aguata Local Government Area, women and youth groups, captains of industries among others.
