A Papal knight of Saint Gregory the Great and a Peace ambassador, Dr Dan Okekenta, has charged Christian fathers to use this year’s Father’s Sunday in re-dedicating their lives to the service of God and humanity.

Speaking on the significance of the 2024 Father’s Sunday of the Roman Catholic church, Dr Okekenta, who described fathers as the pillar of the society, cautioned them against acts capable of debasing fatherhood.

According to Dr Okekenta, the essence of Father’s Sunday is to celebrate fathers and father figures, especially the roles they play in the upbringing of the children, in addition to providing sound and balanced education to them in order to secure a bright future for them.

He said that the role of a Christian father in building a God-fearing home is critical, and cautioned fathers against engaging in uncomplimentary remarks before their children.

Dr Okekenta tasked Christian fathers on using their God-given resources in helping the needy, in addition to contributing to the growth of evangelism for the expansion of God’s kingdom on earth.

The Enugwu-Agidi-born Diplomat used the opportunity of the 2024 Father’s Sunday to felicitate with Catholic Bishops in Anambra State on all their efforts to bring fathers in their various Dioceses closer to their creator by engaging them fully in church activities, calling for its sustenance.
