As Nigeria marked its sixtieth independence anniversary yesterday,
reactions have continued to trail the nation’s journey to greatness.
ABS interaction with some stakeholders showed that they want Nigerians
to reflect  on how to get the country on the
right track.

The Department of Economics, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Mr.
Chukwunonso Ekesiobi, Nigeria at sixty is a big milestone that needs
great improvement economically.

Mr. Ekesiobi called for greater attention on diversifying the economy
and investing heavily on education to catch up with global scientific
breakthrough and technological advancement.

A public affairs analyst from Enugwu-ukwu, Nze Nwabueze Akabuogu, who
said that Nigeria presented itself as a promising nation sixty years
ago upon attainment of independent, frowned that it has failed to
produce a visionary leader as most of the leaders are self centered
given the level of corruption in the country.

Nze Akabuogu charged Nigeria to embrace unity in diversity and respect
merit, transparency and sincerity while electing people into
leadership positions.

He suggested that coming together to reappraise Nigeria as one would
help in proffering a lasting solution that will address the present
situation so that in the next forty years, Nigeria should be
celebrating a century of testimonies, achievements and greatness.
