The Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner Mrs Ify Obinabo has tasked women on the need to have themselves regularly examined over cancer disease.

 

Mrs Obinabo stated this during the 2024 Cancer Awareness and Support to Indigent Cancer Patients organized by League of Women Voters of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter in Awka.

Addressing the women, Mrs Obinabo who centered her message on the theme of the seminar “Cancer Menace in Women,” charged them to take their health seriously and regularly go for cancer examinations as at when due.

She underscored the importance of taking one’s health seriously and urged women to key into Mrs Nonye Soludo’s pet project, “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo” as it will help in checkmating what goes into their body.

 

Earlier, the President of the Group, Mrs Ego Uzozie explained that the objective of the League is to promote in all its ramifications, the empowerment of women, employ ways of encouraging and assisting them to develop economically by stimulating them towards entrepreneurial skills.

Present at the event were the commissioner for health, Dr Afam Obidike, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority ACTDA Mr Ossy Onuko, represented by Mr Samuel Egwuatu among other dignitaries while Dr Ifeoma Ajuba, a consultant at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi educated the women on how to self examine their breast among others.
