The Director of Operations for Anambra State Anti-Tout Squad, Mr. Solomon Onwuemene says no amount of fake news, false alarm and sponsored protests against the agency will deter them from ridding the state of touts and other social vices.

Mr. Onwumene who spoke to the ABS over the fake news in some sections of social media that officers of the agency brutalized some tricycle operators in Awka, explained that the report is the handiwork of those who do not wish the state well.

The Director of Operations, said that after they had rid Regina Caeli Junction Park of touts collecting money from tricycle operators , the tricycle operations out of joy informed them that their members operating at UNIZIK junction Oby Okoli Avenue are suffering the same fate from the touts, operating in the area.

He disclosed that the Tricycle operators donated three tricycles for them to disguise themselves as commercial tricycle operators while going for the arrest.

Mr. Onwumene explained that on getting to the UNIZIK junction park, they parked along the road and immediately a tout rushed their driver and demanded a cash of one thousand naira which they normally collect from each tricycle operator and they got him arrested immediately and his colleague ran into the park.

He maintained that they chased him immediately inside the park where other suspected touts descended on them with sticks but their officers who came in buses overpowered them and arrested seven of them at that spot.

Mr. Onwuemene revealed that those arrested have claimed to be working for one Osita Obi and another man they gave his name as Igwe NANS.

According to him, they will continue to work to ensure that touts and touting are no longer operational in the state, and thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for providing adequate logistics for them, even as he commended the Anambra State Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Chief Chikodili Anara for his moral support to all their members.
