Anambra State Police Command said it is aware of a misleading, unfounded, and false report titled Gunmen kill twenty-one Soldiers in Anambra recently peddled by some online media and national dailies.

In a release by the command’s Police Public Relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command said that the report is untrue, a product of fiction, and the handiwork of mischief-makers.

It said that the Command was dismayed at the news and observed that the hospital mentioned in the report, where the corpses of the soldiers were allegedly kept, does not exist in Awka, the State Capital.

The command said that after making further inquiries, they found out that there is no record of such incident, but deliberate acts by unscrupulous elements to cause tension in the state.

It said that the Command shall not hesitate to invoke relevant cyber laws on persons found wanting in this regard and urged the public to disregard the report.
