President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali Baba as the Acting Inspector-General of Police.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mr Maigari Dingyadi, who disclosed this in Abuja, said that the appointment is with immediate effect.

He said that the issues of professionalism, competence and years of service were considered before the appointment.

Recall that President Buhari had on February fourth, extended the tenure of Inspector-General of Police Mr Mohammed Adamu for three months of which Mr Adamu has spent two months and three days.

Meanwhile, The Federal Government has assured the people of the South East geopolitical zone that the construction of the second Bridge across the River Niger will be completed in 2022.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu stated this when he received the people of Isu-okoma of Onicha Local Government Area of Abia State in his hometown Uburu, in Ohaozara Local Government Area.

Dr Onu who stated that the Federal Government has done a lot in terms of infrastructure and construction of roads within the region noted that President Muhammadu Buhari is on course in fulfilling the promises he made to the South East region.
