Christians have been charged to always make out time and inquire from God, when faced with life challenges.

The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Dr. Alexander Ibezim, gave the charge in a sermon during the 2021 Awka Diocesan Council of Laity Retreat, held at All Saint’s Parish Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area.

Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that the theme of the Retreat was “Pursue and Recover.

Archbishop Ibezim, who underscored the importance of laity to the growth of the Church, said the retreat offered opportunity for accountability and evaluation, even as he urged the Clergy to be true stakeholders in the growth of the Church.

He called for rapid evangelism that will sustain the growth of the Church in the Diocese, adding that unity among Christians of different denominations will entrench peace and sustainable development in various communities.

In his remark, the Archdeacon of Nibo Archdeaconry, Venerable Goodness Amaechi, urged Christians not to lose focus in their pursuit of lost glories, praying that present-day evils will not drive God’s people into the camps of the enemy.

The President of Awka Diocesan Council of Laity, Dr. Sir Emma Ezenwaji, who thanked Archbishop Ibezim for encouraging the Laity in the Diocese, assured of improved evangelism that will sustain the growth of the Church.

On 2021 Anambra governorship election, Dr. Ezenwaji, reminded the laity of the need to enthrone credible leadership that will sustain the development of Anambra State, calling for their full participation in the electoral processes.

Igwe Dr. Mike Ngene of Nibo, and his Nise counterpart, Igwe Romanus Iloh attended the retreat during which special prayers were made for the Church and the nation, especially for smooth conduct of Anambra governorship election.
