The Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, has paid last respect to her deceased staff, Late Engineer Calistius Ogunjiofor as his remains were laid to rest at his father’s compound in Umuogu village , Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area.

The burial which was well-attended by the staff of ABS, members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC; Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria, CYON, student unions, among others bore witnesses to late Engineer Ogunjiofor’s noble memory of hard work and loyalty.

Late Engineer Ogunjiofor, aged twenty-eight, was until his death a staff of the Engineering Department of ABS and a serving Corp member in Rivers State.

 

The deceased was loved and adored by his friends, colleagues and management of the ABS because of dedication and innovations brought to bear in his work as explained by the Managing Director of ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu.

The ABS boss who was represented by the Director of Engineering of the establishment, Engr Paul Okoye while consoling the family said that the late Ogunjiofor was an important asset to the station and asked the family to find solace in the fact that he lived an upright life and brought dignity to the family during his short stay on earth.

Earlier during a homily, the Vicar of Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish, GRA, Awka, Reverend Father Pascal Nnajiofor said that even though Ogunjiofor’s death is a sad one, asked the family to find hope in the testimonies about his life.

 

Father Nnajiofor pointed out that one’s physical age is not what God pays attention to but the ability to live according to his will and fulfill his purpose as his child, therefore, challenged Christians to remain steadfast in their belief in God at all times.

Appreciating all those who rallied round them in their moment of grief, his eldest sister, Mrs. JaneFrances Okafor said that it was too difficult to say goodbye to her brother as he is the only son of her parents and prayed for generous spirit from their kinsmen to avoid depriving them of their father’s inheritance.

Before his interment, late Ogunjiofor was dressed in his NYSC uniform and his coffin wrapped with the Nigerian flag, symbolizing that he is a hero who died serving his country.
