The federal government has been urged to immortalize the late former Governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife.

Speaking in Awka, the Vice President Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, said there is need to appreciate Dr Ezeife’s remarkable contributions to the country.

According to Chief Okeke-Ogene, the late Dr Ezeife fought relentlessly for the restoration and promotion of democracy in the country.

He said the deceased made personal sacrifices and paid prices to ensure that the struggle against military rule was won, as well as a sustained campaign for justice, equity and fairness.

The Ohaneze Vice President recalled that as the first civilian Governor of Anambra State, the late Dr Ezeife inherited an impoverished state and spent time planning and putting it back to shape before the military struck and terminated his laudable vision.

He expressed satisfaction that today, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has brought a well-focused administration that is working to entrench sustainable development, noting that his agricultural revolution initiative would soon enable the state to achieve food security, while the millions of palms and coconut seedlings distributed to households would in few years start feeding many families and increasing revenue base of the state.

Chief Okeke-Ogene urged Ndi Anambra to increase their farming activities this planting season in order to boost food sufficiency.

Also speaking, a community leader, Chief Innocent Obiora, said Governor Soludo has brought a new dawn to the state, and asked Ndi Anambra to embrace the think -home -philosophy.
