Ndi Anam in Anambra West Local Government Area have refuted the allegation that they buried some Nollywood stars who drowned in River Niger recently.

 

speaking to the ABS, one of the stakeholders in Anam, Chief Simeon Nnakwe from Oroma-Etiti Anam said that Anam people of Anambra West Local Government Area have no culture of burying any drowned person along the river bank.

 

Chief Nnakwe who is a real estate expert advised bloggers and media practitioners to always verify news before posting or sharing to avoid carrying fake news or misinformation.

 

Also speaking, a business executive, Chief Michael Okafor-Nwofia from Iyiorah Anam, made it clear that Ndi Anam do not bury anybody along the river bank and that they give respect to the dead.

 

Chief Okafor-Nwofia explained that only those that are buried along the river bank are people without trace or identity and not those whose identities are known, urging people, especially bloggers to always verify their story before publishing.

 

In their separate speeches, a hotelier Chief Osita Offorzor from Umuikwu Anam and Loveday Chibuko-Nnaemeka from Oroma-Etiti Anam, both debunked the report and urged people to always verify their information before posting, adding that Anam people do not bury anybody along the river bank nor have any culture that permits such.

 

All the respondents equally sympathized with the families of the dead Nollywood stars and prayed God to grant their souls an eternal rest.
