A Public Affairs commentator, Chief Obi Ochije-Modilim has called on the Anambra State House of Assembly to make a law regulating the use of social media in the state to avoid abuse.

Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that

Chief Ochije-Modilim who made this known during an ABS audience participatory programme “Odimma Anambra” said that the law has become imperative due to the manner people abuse the social media in recent times.

He regretted that people now choose to snap accident victims or those in emergency situations, and post on social media, than to render help and assistance to them, lamenting that some people in emergency situations die along the process, citing the recent event involving some Nollywood stars in river Niger.

Chief Ochije-Modilim who is an All Progressives Grand Alliance stakeholder in Awka, Awka South Local Government Area revealed that some countries are currently debating on how to regulate some social media networks for it to serve them better, noted that Anambra and Nigeria’s legislature can follow suit.

He further extolled Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s developmental strides since he assumed office and asked Ndi Anambra to keep supporting the current administration in the state, as well as help the state government to secure all the government projects and facilities in their areas.

The Awka community leader appealed to political gladiators in the state to stop overheating the polity and allow Governor Soludo to continue his good works in Anambra.
