The Government of Anambra state has dismissed the online viral video about ongoing Ochanja road project as the handiwork of mischief makers.

Speaking to journalists at the two-point three kilometers road, the Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma, explained that the washed-off portion is just a little part of the road, out of which one point seven kilometers have been completed.

The Commissioner assured that the project will be completed in record time, saying that the road is still under construction, as such, videoing, and circulating a portion of it is not only mischievous, but has potential to affect the state negatively.

Engineer Okoma, who expressed shock over the viral video, pointed out that the road has not been inaugurated by the state government as reported in the trending video.

He explained that the Contractor handling the project worked on Sunday, and only about one foot from where he stopped work was washed as a result of the heavy rains, and blocked drainages along the road.

While appealing to residents to help the government by avoiding dumping of refuse into drainage channels, Mr Mark Tu, who is the Head of the contracting firm handling the project, expressed disappointment over what he described as a mischievous video, and gave assurances that the firm will deliver quality job in record time.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Fegge Landlords Association, Chief Obinwanne Okwudili, who praised Governor Soludo’s government for building roads in their vicinity, revealed that the washed-off area was still under construction.

Some of the traders and residents who spoke to the media, also praised the state government for the construction, and expressed satisfaction with the quality of the already asphalted portion of the road.
