The Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has commiserated with the family of a one-time Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Right Honourable Anayo Nnebe who recently died at the age of sixty-one.

 

The Deputy Governor who was speaking during the burial of the Speaker of the Fourth state Assembly at his country home Umuokpu Awka, Awka South Local Government Area described the deceased as a man who contributed his quota in the development and legislative system of the state.

 

The late Honourable Nnebe lived for the people, Deputy Governor Ibezim emphasized on the need for public office holders to always use the opportunity to serve the people and make indelible impact in the society, as according to him, the only thing to speak for someone after his or her journey on earth is the good work done while alive.

 

Dr Ibezim used the opportunity to restate the commitment of the present administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo towards transforming Anambra state and achieving a livable, smart and mega city for Ndi Anambra.

 

In an interview, the former Press Secretary to the late Nnebe, Mr Abuchi Nwozor said that the good works of the late lawmaker speaks volume of him and that during his regime as the speaker of the fourth Assembly, a lot of laws were passed in the interest of the people and good of the state.

 

Mr Nwozor asked the children of the deceased to be consoled with the fact that their late father lived a good life, and encouraged them to toe the steps of their late father.

 

The son of the deceased, Mr. Anayo Nnebe Junior thanked those that joined them to mourn their late father, especially Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the Deputy, Dr Ibezim, praying God to bless them abundantly.
