The Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu has charged people of Nnokwa to extend their hands of goodwill to schools in the community.

The PPSSC Chairman gave the charge while addressing Ndi Nnokwa at a town hall meeting with members of Nnokwa Progressive Union.

She explained some novel education policies of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the state which includes; free education, building of smart schools, refurbishing of already existing ones, and x-rayed the Governor’s high interest in education by recruiting five thousand teachers last year and three thousand at the ongoing teacher’s recruitment exercise.

Professor Ikediugwu urged men of high integrity of the town to partner with the two schools in their town, Unity Secondary School Nnokwa and Community Secondary School Nnokwa, and said that with the free education and commitment of both the principals and staff, Unity Secondary School rose from three hundred and thirty-three to five hundred and seventy, while Community Secondary School increased from one hundred and seventeen to four hundred and sixty-five in students’ population.

She asked that they form part of club of patrons of the schools by fencing the schools, finding accommodation for the teachers, providing security for the schools, as well as being part of the quality assurance assessors of the schools to ensure that quality education is given to their children.

Professor Ikediugwu further explained that when such things are done, the town stands the chance of gaining attention of the government.

In his response, the President-General of the town, Sir Joe Ezeanyika expressed gladness over Governor Soludo’s interest in education, and asked the principals of the two schools to pen down some of the problems of the schools and get back to them for immediate actions.
