Governor Chukwuma Soludo has been commended for initiating reformation of land administration in Anambra state.

Speaking in Awka, the Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene said this will sanitize and check abuses in land acquisition processes and use over the years, noting that the Governor’s warning that government officials involved in issuing fake land and building approvals will be prosecuted will check certain excesses that have brought concerns in land issues over the years as well as protect genuine land owners from harassment, exploitation and fraud.

According to Chief Okeke Ogene, a situation where two or more people are given Certificate of Occupation for the same plot of land is not only embarrassing but also a threat to law and order, noting that this is also a challenge to proper physical planning of the state because of indiscriminate building of structures and encroachments on government and people’s property.

He also urged the state government to take more proactive measures to end excesses of individuals, groups and sometimes communities who often hinder land owners from developing their property through illegal demands without justifications, regretting that this over the years has continued to discourage investors from exploring opportunities in various parts of the state.

Chief Okeke Ogene enjoined Community leaders and other stakeholders to support the Governor’s efforts towards ending land racketeering to accelerate overall development of the state.
