It has been asserted that the Nigerian youths are not given the enabling environment to maximize their potentials and this has in many ways affected their contributions to the social and economic growth of the country.

Provision of job opportunities, ensuring qualitative and accessible education, providing incentives for innovations and creating enabling environment were listed as the needed interventions for youths to thrive.

Bearing his mind on the issue, a politician, Mr. Emeka Igwe alleged that youths are not given the enabling environment to thrive by the political elites, in order to make them willing tools for personal and destructive purposes during election.

Mr. Igwe emphasized the need for youths to organize themselves and become self reliant through learning of skills to avoid being manipulated with money during elections.

In her reaction, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, noted that youths need to be focused, encouraged and most importantly, believe in themselves to achieve something worthwhile.

She harped on the need for value reorientation in the country, as the country is derailing and the educational system becoming valueless.

For Princess Diana Ndigwe, as much as youths have derailed, they can still be made to channel their time, energy and resources into productive ventures, as it can be inculcated in the school system for results.

Other respondents including Mr. Chimezie Ndigwe, Mrs. Ifunnaya Amafili and Mr. Okey Ndigwe urged youths to be inspired, carve a niche for themselves and be responsible.

On their parts, Miss Favour Onyeabor and Mr. Benjamin Okafor, advised their fellow youths to shun get rich quick syndrome.
