Two people have been discharged and four others granted bail by the Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu as he visited Aguata Correctional Centre in continuation of his 2020 jail delivery visitations.
Justice Anyachebelu at the commencement of the day’s proceeding said that the jail delivery visit which is being done twice annually was stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic early this year.

The Anambra State Chief judge pointed out that priorities would be given to inmates who have been in detention without trials, those whose case files maybe missing, women, juveniles, the sick as well as those above the age of sixty.

According to the Chief Judge, the visit is a routine exercise backed by law, to look at inmates who may have been detained longer than necessary, people who are unjustly incarcerated to grant them bail as well as to bring justice to the door steps of the inmates for quick and fair justice delivery.

Among those granted bail was a seven year old boy charged with burglary in Igbo-ukwu in Aguata Local Government Area.

Others whose case files were treated during the visit were asked to continue their normal court proceedings at the regular court by Justice Anyachebelu, even as officials of the Red Cross Society Anambra State Chapter, legal practitioners were present during the visit.
