Anambra State Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism, Dr Christian Madubuko, has organized a free Medicare for one hundred and seventy Staff of the Ministry.

According to Dr Madubuko, the free Medicare was necessitated by his desire to see each worker in the Ministry in optimum health while performing duties.

The event took place at the Ministry’s auditorium, in Awka.

Blessing Uchendu reports that the free medical check was carried out by Beacon of Hope Outreach, USA, an international non-governmental organization that focuses on community health programmes and human development.

Speaking at the event, Dr Madubuko said the intervention was also to complement the great work being done by the Anambra State Government, especially in the area of quality and affordable healthcare delivery.

He said that the choice to begin the free medical outreach with his ministry was to ensure that every member of  his staff satisfies all health demands for higher productivity.

On her part, the founder of Beacon of Hope Outreach, USA, Lady Celestina Ekezie, said that the organization goes to communities to help people, adding that the major aim of the checkups was to ensure  early detention of I’ll health  and commended the commissioner for placing priority on the health of his staff.

In their separate remarks, a facilitator Ambassador Uche Ajulu-Okeke and a Medical Director in the organization who is also the foundation Chairman, Board of Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, Dr Philip Ume-Ezeoke, who took time to teach the participants proper hygiene and other ways of taking care of their health, advised them to maintain positive and healthy living by giving proper attention to their health needs.

In a vote of thanks, the Director of Tourism in the Ministry, Mr Emmauel Umeokana, thanked the Commissioner for bringing the free medical outreach to them and prayed God to bless him.

The outreach featured presentation of drugs to the staff of the Ministry through the Commissioner and teaching of proper hand washing methods.
