The Anambra state Chairman of Oil and Gas Committee, Chief Chris Okonkwo has called on the state government to immediately shut down a petroleum adulteration dump and mini illegal refinery discovered at Umuoji, Idemili North council area.

Chief Okonkwo who made the appeal while speaking to the ABS in Awka, noted that members of the petroleum task force busted the illegal petroleum adulteration dump and mini refinery which is located behind Horse Power Petrol Filling Station, where illegal, dangerous and harmful petroleum products are being distributed across the state.

Chief Okonkwo said that when his men gained access into the premises of the illegal business, several tanks and many tankers were on ground loading and offloading mixed petroleum products.


He further pointed out that when the operator of the illegal petroleum depot sighted his team, he quickly mobilized hoodlums who descended on his members, seriously wounding some of them as well as carted away one Sunny Full High Definition Camera, which is the camera they use for their information storage valued at one hundred and eighty five thousand naira.

Other valuables that were snatched from his members were a hand bag, valued at seven thousand naira, Nokia phone, five thousand naira, ATM card, Tecno phone valued at twenty five thousand naira, jeans trousers, five thousand naira, sandals and a shirt valued at seven and eight thousand naira respectively.

He therefore called on the Anambra state government to immediately shut down the place and prosecute the owner accordingly to serve as deterrent to others as the mixed petroleum products can cause serious fire disaster in the state.
