Three days into the “stay at home order by the Anambra State Government, following the outbreak of corona-virus, residents of the commercial city of Onitsha have reasonably complied.

Correspondent Emengini Osadebe who monitored the situation however reports that some people were seen going about their normal businesses.

Shops along the ever busy Awka road Onitsha were closed while there were few vehicular movements with few people trekking to their destinations.

Some petty traders as well as some food vendors were seen selling their commodities to prospective buyers.

Staff of various commercial banks were seen at the bank premises attending to their Customers in trickles, who were not allowed into the banking hall freely.

Reacting to the development, some of them who spoke on the condition of anonymity commended the steps taken by the government to curb the corona-virus but lamented the effect the order will have on those who depend on daily sales to make both ends meet.

They called on the Government to help in cushioning the effect as most families could not afford three square meal a day even before the COVID 19 pandemic.

On her part Mrs Rhoda Okagbue described the distribution of bags of Rice to the elderly by Governor Willie Obiano as a welcome development urging him to extend his magnanimity to other vulnerable groups in the State.
