US Cautions Nigerian Travellers Against Visa Overstays
In a statement issued by the US Mission in Nigeria, the government reminded visa holders that obtaining a US visa is a privilege, not a right, and that all visitors are expected to leave the country before the expiration of their authorised stay.
The US authorities stressed that immigration officials monitor compliance with visa regulations and that travellers who overstay their visas may face serious consequences, including being barred from re-entering the United States for several years.
The statement also urged prospective travellers to ensure they understand and adhere to the conditions attached to their visas, emphasizing that compliance with US immigration laws helps maintain the integrity of the visa process and facilitates legitimate travel between both countries.
