The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, has called on farmer cooperatives and active farmers to actively participate in government programs aimed at enhancing agriculture.

 

The Speaker, made the call during an interactive session with Ogbaru Divisional Cooperative Council, Association of Ogbaru Cooperative Societies, and Active Farmers in Ogbaru Council Area.

Held at Atani, the meeting underscored the critical role of agriculture in driving economic development and resilience in the face of environmental challenges while it also provided opportunity for farmers to align their efforts towards achieving common goals and advancing agricultural agenda in Ogbaru.

 

Right Honourable Udeze emphasized the importance of agricultural development in Ogbaru and urged them to participate actively in programs aimed at enhancing agriculture despite the challenges posed by flooding in the area.

Stressing the need for a concerted effort towards agriculture, the Speaker emphasized significant initiatives undertaken by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to promote agricultural growth in Ogbaru.

 

In response to concerns raised by participants regarding the vulnerability of agricultural lands to flooding, the Speaker assured them of government’s commitment to implementing measures aimed at addressing this issue.

The Speaker reiterated the importance of collaboration between government agencies, cooperatives, and farmers to develop sustainable solutions to agricultural challenges in Ogbaru and commended the efforts of the cooperatives and farmers in Ogbaru, pledging continued support from the government to ensure the success and prosperity of agricultural sector in the region.

 

The Traditional Ruler of Atani, Igwe Azuka Ngoddy, emphasized the importance of agriculture and encouraged the people of Ogbaru to join cooperatives, which he said will assist them during the new planting seasons.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Ogbaru Council Area, Mr. Pascal Aniegbuna and President of the Ogbaru Divisional Cooperative Council, Mr. Francis Xmai expressed gratitude to the Speaker for his support to Ogbaru Cooperative and farmers.
