Christians have been urged to reach out to both Christians and non-Christians alike as they make the spiritual journey of the Lenten season. Speaking on the demands of the season, a radio Evangelist, Reverend Peter Ezenwaji said that Christ died for the entire mankind as his sufferings, crucifixion, death and resurrection brought salvation to the world.

Reverend Ezenwaji, Christians should uphold days of prayer, fasting, almsgiving, abstinence and sacrifice throughout the Lenten period to make themselves worthy of the costly sacrifice made by Christ.

He said that the season should be devoted to solemn activities, including assisting the needy and less privileged members of the society to attract forgiveness of sins, reconciliation and salvation and called on Christians to emulate Christ’s life of humility, prayer, sacrifice, generosity and commitment to the welfare of others.

Reverend Ezenwaji who is also a lawyer lamented the increasing economic hardship, poverty, hunger, depression and deaths across the country and urged government at all levels to review the current economic policies and put in place proactive measures to strengthen the value of naira, reduce prices of food and petroleum products as well as improve security of life and property .

Also speaking, a catholic faithful, Mr. John Okechukwu enjoined Christians to use the Lenten period to improve their religious life and be a light to show the way for others to follow.
