Ojoto community in Idemili South Council Area rolled out their drums as the Traditional ruler, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, performed his second ofala festival.

 

The festival held at his palace was an annual event that helps in fostering unity among the eight villages of Ojoto community.

The arrival into the arena by the royal father accompanied by Ndi Iyom and cabinet members heralded the commencement of the event, as sons and daughters of the community, friends and well-wishers gathered from the state and beyond to rejoice with the monarch.

 

Royal dances, songs, tributes, parades, gifts and masquerades ran over the arena, as the royal father fulfilled the obligations to the land.

 

In his speech, Igwe Mbamalu expressed gratitude to all contributing to the development of Ojoto community, pointing out that the task of community building remains everybody’s responsibility.

He called for sustained efforts in accelerating developmental strides that will actualize the dreams and aspirations of Ndi Ojoto.

 

Also in his remark, the President General of Ojoto community, Chief Donatus Anozie, observed that ofala festival rekindles rich culture and tradition of Igbo people, and commended monumental achievements recorded by Igwe Mbamalu on the throne.

 

The event was another opportunity to present certificates to new inductees as members of the traditional institution, even as the monarch conferred Chieftaincy titles on some deserving members of the society who have contributed in community development.

Rejoicing with Igwe Mbamalu on the festival, the Traditional ruler of Ossomala, Igwe Victor Awogu, among other personalities, commended his unwavering commitment and dynamism in plotting the affairs of the community.

 

Speaking to ABS, one of the newly conferred title members and daughter of the community, Chief Mrs Amaka Awogu, appreciated Igwe Mbamalu for the recognition and honour, assuring that such will spur her to do more for the people.

 

Presentation of gifts by various groups and paying of homage to Igwe Mbamalu climaxed the event.
