The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Prince Neville Uchendu has called on affluent citizens of Orumba South to see the education of the children of the area as a collective responsibility by offering them scholarship opportunities.

 

Speaking at the Orumba South Council Secretariat Umunze during this year’s Children’s Day Celebration, Prince Uchendu while urging parents and teachers to provide proper training for the children, enjoined the school children to remain obedient and studious at all times.

The Orumba South Council Boss commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for repositioning the education sector in the state through massive employment of over five thousand teachers as well as rehabilitation of schools, noting that the Governor has succeeded in providing a better future for the children of the state.

 

He commended the children of Orumba South for making the Council Area proud in various school competitions where they have continued to distinguish themselves among their counterparts.

Prince Uchendu extolled the efforts of the wife of the Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo and Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Mrs. Ify Obinabo in reducing child abuse, child labour and trafficking in the state through proper enlightenment.

 

On his part, the traditional ruler of Owerre-Ezukala, Igwe Thomas Ogbonnaya described Children as veritable members of the family and urged parents to help in shaping the moral and academic standards of their children.

One of the students from Community High School Umunze, Miss Obinna Chidera extolled the efforts of Governor Soludo to ensure quality education in the state and commended the Orumba South Council Chairman, Prince Uchendu for maintaining cordial working relationship with the Governor to guarantee quality education in Orumba South.

 

The occasion which was attended by the Orumba South Leaders of Thought, Ndi Igwe, Presidents-General as well as party stalwarts, featured march-past and cultural dance by the students and their teachers.
