Today is Easter Sunday. It is the day Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death, which marks the end of the Holy week.

Easter is one of the most important basic pillars of the Christian faith. For without the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death after three days, there would be no hope for the Christians. Our Lord Jesus, the savior of mankind, is alive and not in the grave. Faith, belief and complete acceptance of the death, burial and resurrection are very essential to Christians for two main reasons.

First, Christians, by faith, will live their entire lives, according to and in agreement with the Bible Commandments and Teachings from the Old to the New Testament. In the process of their daily lives, the Believers will expect and receive the provisions of basic needs, guidance from evil or law breakers in the societies in which they live; protection from unwelcome dangers or harms; healing of the body and mind; miracles and such alike.

The second has to do with Eternal Life. This is the ultimate reward for Christian Believers. They all do what the Bible says until their deaths so they will receive their rewards in Heaven. Unbelief in this does not make the Word of God and the Christian Faith untrue or foolish as mentioned in Romans Chapter three, verses three and four.

Therefore, the belief in God until the end, or when the Christian Believer dies, is essential. The importance of this is mentioned in Matthew Chapter twenty-four from verses eleven to thirteen. To a Christian Believer or any individual for that matter, death is the end of the process of life as we humans know and understand the relationship between life and death.

Be that as it may, the Bible speaks about Eternal Life in Heaven for those who believe God, accept Jesus Christ as Lord and personal saviour and obey His Commandments.

So, the significance of the principle of Easter, which is the death, burial and resurrection, becomes critical to a Believer and Eternal Life. We should also remember that eternal life is granted to those who keep or obey God’s Commandments all the days of their lives.

Therefore, Easter has great significance to Christians. A Christian is someone who walks in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. A Christian Believer has repented from sins, accepted Christ as his Lord and personal savior, reads the Bible, is baptized by water and receives the Holy Spirit from God. Then, the person has hope of Eternal Life in Heaven.

Whichever way we may look at it, the process to get to Heaven and the teachings of each Church Denomination and Practice will differ in some respects. However, all real Christian church members of the congregations must obey God’s Commandments to be accepted by God and receive the ultimate reward of Eternal Life in Heaven after the natural life has ended.

Easter is, therefore, very important because it proved that Jesus is who He says He is. He is God in the flesh and He came to earth to save us. He is still alive today and seated on the right side of God, over two thousand and twenty-one years after His crucifixion and resurrection.

Without the doctrine of the celebration of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection from the dead, there is no Christianity and no Christian Easter. Most importantly, this Jesus, who rose again from the dead, promises He will come back again to rapture His people. The question is, how prepared are we to receive him when He comes back the second time.

Halleluiah, Christ has risen, He has risen in deed.
