The Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Sir Norbert Obi says the recent social media reports alleging that the youth leader of the party in the State has defected to an opposition party is misleading.

Sir Norbert who stated this while addressing the press in Awka, said that Comrade Magnus Eziokwu, a former APGA Youth Leader in Anambra State, had been forced to relinquish his position long before his defection having contravened one of the laws of the party.

Correspondent Blessing Uchendu  reports that according to Sir Norbert, the decampee had, while still serving as the State youth leader, went behind the party and secured appointment as a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, thereby going against Article twenty-five of APGA Constitution 2019.

The Anambra State APGA Chairman, while noting that on finding out the development, the party wrote him demanding for his resignation and whereupon his deputy, Mr Chike Odoji took over from him in acting capacity and in line with the guidelines of the party since May 2021.

Sir Norbert who said that ordinarily the party would not bother itself with issue of such triviality, but it was important to note that it was an act of mischief for Comrade Eziokwu to still see himself as the State Youth Leader of APGA when the opposition party bought him over.
