Anambra State Government says it has vaccinated over sixty thousand persons in the state against COVID-19 pandemic.

 

House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu disclosed this when she appeared before the Anambra State House of Assembly committee on Public Accounts for the verification of their 2020 audited account.

 

Dr. Ezenyimulu who said that the agency achieved the feat with AstraZeneca vaccine expressed joy that the vaccine helped to contain the spread of the deadly virus in the state.

 

She informed the committee that the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination will start on Tuesday next week at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, which will be flagged-off by Governor Willie Obiano.

 

Dr. Ezenyimulu called on Ndi Anambra, aged eighteen years and above to turn out en-mass for the second stage of the exercise as the agency will be using Modena vaccine this time.

 

She said that those who have received their first dose of AstraZeneca should also attend the programme as the second dose will also be available.

 

In his part, the Chairman of the committee, Sir Somtochukwu Udeze commended the agency for winning the war against COVID-19.

 

Similarly, the committee has also expressed satisfaction with the financial records of the Office of the State Deputy Governor for the year under review.

 

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Ifeyinwa Uzoka noted that the oversight function of the Anambra State House of Assembly has improved good accounting system in the state.
