The Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor says Governor Willie Obiano has continued to fulfill his promise to various religious bodies in the state through constant disbursement of funds to them for the development of their dioceses and for other needs.
In his commendation message to Governor Obiano during the presentation of Grant in Aid Cheques to mission hospitals in the state by the Governor at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre Awka, Right Honourable Okafor described the gesture as a rare demonstration of a leader who does not discriminate among different religious groups.
The Speaker noted that Governor Obiano has remained consistent in giving monetary assistance to churches in the state for their upkeep, adding that the Governor has contributed immensely to the service of God and humanity especially through this health improvement act.
He called on wealthy citizens to emulate the Governor’s gesture by committing part of their God’s given resources to improve the wellbeing of the citizenry as well as the work of God in their areas.
Right Honourable Okafor enjoined managers of the various mission hospitals to reciprocate Governor Obiano’s magnanimity by making good use of the money and also continue to pray for the peace and progress of the state.
