A team of officials of Anambra State Physical Planning Board has
recovered a government land situated at Union Secondary School,
Umuawulu, Awka South Council Area, already being encroached upon.
Government House correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the team, led
by its Acting General Manager, Mr. Nwabufo Anene, removed all the
beacons on the premises and marked for removal, already built
structures.

They also demolished a structurally deficient building at
Owerre-Ezukala road, Umunze, Orumba South council area, as tests
carried out on the building by Anambra State Materials and Testing
Laboratory confirmed it to be structurally poor.
Mr. Anene advised developers to always make proper enquiry
about a property before purchase to avoid being entrapped in any form
of illegality.

At Ndikelionwu, Orumba North Council Area, a security man was arrested
for previously threatening the Board officials with a gun, as the
building he is guarding has no government approval.
They also sealed off an ongoing structure at Ndiowu for failure to
secure government approval, as well as stalled work on some other
buildings at Awgu, and Ogborji.

While some of the building materials were taken by the officials,
fresh notices were served and arrests made during the enforcement
exercise.

Part of the team was the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor
on Lands and Physical Planning, Mrs. Joy Nneli.
