The South East Governors’ Forum has revealed plans to ensure at least
that five per cent of the region’s populations are tested for Covid-19
in the next two months.

The Forum also revealed plans to establish a stabilization fund for
Ndigbo as a post Covid-19 era with special priorities given to
education, health, agriculture, and to small and medium scale
enterprises.

The plans, revealed in a communiqué issued by the South East
Governors’ Forum teleconference meeting participated by members and
some Igbo Leaders, will help the region navigate through the impacts
of the Covid-19 pandemic on the economy.

The communiqué signed by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of
Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi decried the constant abuse of the
inter-state boundaries’ closure leading to a continued increase in the
cases of Covid-19 being registered in the Zone.

While revealing that Imo State now has two testing centres and more
coming up in Enugu, Anambra and Abia State, the Forum assured that the
testing capacity for Covid-19 will thereby increase and lead to a more
robust action against dreaded viral infection.

They appealed to the youths to visit the ministries of agriculture in
their various States and become part of the various Agricultural
programmes that have been geared towards reducing hunger during and
after the pandemic.

The South East Governors’ Forum also reiterated that the “no mask, no
movement” policy, physical distancing and hands washing protocols and
sanitary guidelines will remain in place as more strategies will be
put in place to strengthen the inter-state boundaries’ closure order.
