Igbo Summit  On Restructuring  Holds Today In Awka

All is now set for the first ever Igbo Summit on Restructuring being organized by the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Worldwide holding today at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

The Summit which is tagged “Restructuring on the Nigerian Federation” will focus on generating a collective and definite stand for the Igbo Nation and will attract dignitaries from Igbo speaking States of Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Rivers and Delta States and from other places where Igbo people reside.

The President General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Chief John Nnia-Nwodo will lead other stakeholders and Representatives of other different socio-cultural groups in Igbo land to speak at the Summit.

Earlier in an interview with the ABS, the State President, Ohaneze Ndiigbo, Anambra State, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene explained that the summit is pivotal to harmonize different opinions and issues of the restructuring debate being held by stakeholders.

Correspondent, David Okpokwasili who visited Alex Ekwueme Square ahead of the event, observed that all arrangements that will see to the successful hosting of the summit have been put in place as according to him, finishing touches were being put in place in decorations while the men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force including the Explosives Ordinance Disposal, EOD, Unit also known as Anti Bomb Squad have been well stationed.

Also assuring of other adequate security arrangements, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Mr Haruna Mohammed in a telephone interview, allayed the fears of visitors over threats of disruption of the summit by any group in any guise , stating that the security of all participants has been assured as the State and the Police Command are upbeat in security consciousness.

On his part, a Public Affairs Analyst, Engineer Anthony Aniebue commended Ohaneze Ndi Igbo for initiating the summit and said it will provide all and sundry the opportunity to air their views in the state of the Nation, emphasizing that dialogue remains paramount in achieving perceived goals in civilized societies.
