Awka indigenes living in the diaspora have been charged to key into the development initiative of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in their community.

 

A stakeholder in the community and a member of the prestigious Ozo Awka Society, Chief Obi Ochije Modilim, who gave the charge in the latest edition of ABS radio audience participatory programme, “Eko Awka”, designed to promote the cultural norms and values of Awka community, in addition to reorienting the peoples mindset towards development, said that when the people of Awka, especially the affluents, bring part of their investments in Awka it will go a long way in fast tracking the development of Awka, the capital of Anambra State.

 

According to Chief Ochije Modilim, the people of Awka should be at the forefront in the ongoing efforts by the Anambra State Government, to transform Awka into a liveable, green and prosperous homeland, adding that the development of the state should not be left alone for the government.

 

He stressed the need for the affluent individuals of Awka community to take the responsibility of constructing some kilometers of road in the spirit of the private- public community partnership initiative of the Soludo administration, which many people in other communities across the state have embraced for the development of Anambra State.

 

Chief Obi Ochije Modilim, the Co-ordinator of the Soludo Support Group in Anambra Central Senatorial District, urged the youths of Awka extraction to participate in Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s “One youth two skills” programme.

 

He stated that another ten thousand youths will soon be involved in the programme, and emphasized that Governor Soludo is dedicated to creating more youth millionaires annually, as he had promised during his campaign.

 

He described Professor Soludo as the only Governor who has remembered Awka since Anambra State was created in 1991, and praised the ongoing construction of the new government house and lodge, as well as the intercommunal link roads with proper drainage channels as clear indications that the Governor is a God-sent leader with a passion to transform the state.

 

Chief Modilim charged the people to always protect government facilities in their various areas against vandalization, which he said was put in place with taxpayers money.

 

Some callers on the programme, including Onye fee Eze from Mbaukwu commended the people of Awka for coming up with such an enlightenment programme, and thanked Governor Soludo for all his efforts to transform Anambra State, calling for its sustainability.
